The work of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Zürich (AIM) is aimed at understanding the evolutionary origins of human morphology and behavior. With the AIM being one of the oldest Anthropological departments in Europe, Anthropology has a long tradition at the University of Zürich. When Carel van Schaik became the Director of the AIM in 2004, behavioral research on wild orangutans became one of the cornerstones of the AIM.
