Tornado is one of the infant orangutans we follow at the Suaq Balimbing research station in the Gunung Leuser Ecosystem.
.
.
We watch him live a happy life up in the trees following his mom, Tiara, from one yummy fruiting tree to the next. He goes about his day peacefully and is a very curious little orangutan. .
But sadly, Tornado and other orangutans across Sumatra and Borneo face a graying future. Will there still be the same forest 20 years from now, or will increasing development take away the rest of Tornado’s home?
.
Maybe this makes you feel sad and overwhelmed. It’s certainly moved hundreds of people who care deeply about orangutans to start an annual Orangutan Caring Week to raise awareness about the threats facing our tree-living cousins. .
And know, you don’t have to feel helpless in this! YOU can do something by sharing the theme of this year’s Orangutan Caring Week: Respecting the Rights of Critically Endangered Species. Tornado has the right to a bright and healthy future.
Help ensure this by donating to our fight for orangutans survival today!
